Introducing Defi Kingdoms
Defi Kingdoms is one of the latest additions in terms of DEXes on the Harmony network. It provides a refreshing look as its layout differs from the other DEXes so far, incorporating a gaming element into the DEX itself. On the site itself, users can see medieval buildings in the background and that alone provides an interesting new take on how a DEX can be like. The native token for this DEX would be JEWEL.
In their roadmap so far, they mentioned future releases of heroes, lands, and weapons as NFTs. There will also be a battle system where players can have their heroes fight against others. The graphics are pixelated, bringing gamers back to the early 90s where a few moving pixels on the screen was more than enough occupy their time for hours on end.
For more information about them, go to https://docs.defikingdoms.com/ to find out more.
In the following paragraphs, I will try to introduce the current features of Defi Kingdoms so that new users can get acquainted with the site easily.
Getting Started
To start, go to their site @ https://app.defikingdoms.com/#/ . Click on the “Play” button in the middle and you should see the following image.
Over here, select the wallet you want to use to connect to the site. Metamask would be the most common choice and it is what I used myself as well. Once connected, you will reach the character selection page.
Fill in a name for your character and select a profile image for your account. Right now, the image you choose has no bearing on anything else related to the game so feel free to choose what you like.
Once you have everything filled up and happy, click on “Complete Profile”. You will then be moved to the world map in Defi Kingdoms.
As you can see in the picture above, right now, there are only 3 places available for users to explore. The Bank, the Marketplace and the Gardens. Each location will have NPCs that provide a service to the user. Let’s take a closer look!
The Marketplace
When you enter the Marketplace, you will see 2 NPCs standing there. Each of them provides a different service to you, the adventurer.
The Trader, Merchant Matoya, provides you the opportunity to swap your tokens for other tokens currently available on the DEX. The main tokens you can find there right now would be JEWEL, ONE, XYA, BNB and ETH.
Click on “Select a token” to choose the pair to trade and enter the amount of tokens you want to trade. Click on the “Swap” that appears after and “Confirm” when your Metamask notification pops out. Congratulations! You have completed your first trade as an adventurer on Defi Kingdoms!
The Druid, Druid Lazarus, here, provides a slightly more complex service. If you are familiar with Liquidity Pools, this is 1 of the 2 NPCs that you go to to start creating your LPs.
Over here, click on “Create a Pair” to kickstart your LP process.
Select the 2 tokens that you want to provide a Liquidity Pairing for. (If you are not sure how LPs work, please visit Binance here to find out more, do take note of the risks that come with the rewards.) Next, input the amount of tokens you want to provide for your farms. Click on “Supply” once you are done and proceed to “Confirm” your process. Now, you are ready to start farming on Defi Kingdoms!
Before we proceed to the Gardens, I want to show you one more feature of Druid Lazarus.
You will see the above when you click on Druid Lazarus in the Marketplace. Over here, you can click on the “Manage” button over each pairing to see how many coins there are in your LPs at the moment, please note that the number fluctuates as the value of your 2 tokens are constantly changing.
And with that all done and settled, let us move over to the Gardens where we start our farming! To get there, we can click on “Menu” located at the top right of the page. Click on “Gardens” to proceed.
The Gardens
The Gardens is the place we go to start our farming process and where we can claim the labour of our fruits. Over here, you will once again meet a familiar friend and he will be partnered up with someone new.
With your LPs in hand, click on Druid Lazarus to start planting your LPs!
On this screen, you are provided with options at the top, similar to the ones you find at the Marketplace. At the bottom, click on “Deposit”. You will be brought to another screen.
Over here, you have 3 options. “Deposit” to put in the LP that you have to start farming. “Claim” to collect whatever tokens you have farmed thus far. “Withdraw” to withdraw your LP from the pools. Do note that withdrawal might come with fees and that by withdrawing your LP, you will automatically claim all tokens that have been farmed.
Lastly, if you do not feel like entering each pool one by one to claim your rewards, you may click on the NPC (Poor dude does not have his own name, yet) with the word “Claim”. You will be able to claim for all your pools at one shot.
That’s all for today. I’ve left out the Bank for now as I want to introduce some other information that will be strongly linked to how the Bank works in my next article. I do hope this article has provided you with some information on how to navigate Defi Kingdoms. It is a project that seems fun to me and that is all I can ask for at this point for gaming projects built on Harmony.
